Here’s a Quick Tip To Stop Your Dog Entering Your Kitchen
One of the most common issues that many people have is trying to keep their dogs out of certain areas such as the kitchen. Dogs will follow you around and will often get in the way when you are trying to prepare the family dinner.
Here’s a very simple way of showing your dog where he is and isn’t allowed. Decide where it is exactly you want to stop him from going any further, this is usually at the entrance to the kitchen.
It’s important that there is an obvious line for your dog, not an imaginary one but one that he can see, such as a change in floor surface from carpet to wood. If there isn’t one, then you need to create one temporarily with some sticky tape or masking tape.
When he tries crossing over the line, usher him back with your hand at the same time voicing “outside the kitchen”, then once he steps back behind the line reward him with a treat and praise him. Avoid eye contact as this invites your dog over, and only occasionally reinforce the correct behavior with treats.
